Welcome to the New Mala ulica
Since the opening of the Family Centre, run by the City of Ljubljana, the Mala ulica website has served as the main source of information for visitors. It enables families to explore current activities and programmes, access important information, and register for the centre’s popular holiday childcare programmes. More than a decade after its launch, the website was ready for a major transformation – one that we delivered in 2026.

Small Street for Big Adventures
Mala ulica is a vibrant and welcoming family centre in Ljubljana, dedicated to bringing families together and creating opportunities for learning and play. It opened its doors to the first urban families in 2013, and shortly afterwards launched its first colourful website. As the range of activities and content continued to grow over the years, while technical requirements and design standards evolved, the website called for a comprehensive redesign. The project included a new information architecture, migration to an upgraded content management system, a refreshed visual identity, and enhancements to key functionalities.
A New Structure for Better Usability
A key part of the project was the redesign of the website’s information architecture, as the existing structure had become difficult to navigate over time. We streamlined and reorganised the content to provide clearer pathways through the centre’s programmes and activities. The new navigation is more intuitive, while the content is structured in a way that helps visitors quickly understand the offer and easily find the information they need.
“Our partnership with Innovatif began with our first website and continued through its maintenance. Their deep understanding of our needs is reflected in the new solution. The new website is vibrant, playful, more user-friendly, and makes content management and updates much easier for our team.”
A Visual Redesign That Invites Play
The visual identity remains true to the organisation’s brand, preserving its playful and approachable character. Pages are built around soft, rounded shapes and vibrant colours, with energetic yellow taking centre stage. Elements are intentionally large and simple, reflecting a child-friendly spirit even though the website is primarily aimed at parents. Particular attention was given to readability and the clear presentation of information through a warm and welcoming visual language, helping create a more engaging user experience.
Simplified Childcare Registration
One of the project's main functional challenge was the redesign of the holiday childcare registration system. As one of the website’s key services, the registration process needed to be as simple and transparent as possible for both parents and administrators. The new solution guides parents through the process in a clear and logical way. The process is shorter, easier to understand, and more automated, reducing the risk of errors and making registration faster and more efficient.
Efficient Content Management
Improving the editorial experience was another key objective of the redesign. By migrating to the latest version of the Silvestripe CMS, content management became significantly easier, particularly when it comes to managing activity registrations and updating website content.
The entire administration process is now more streamlined and transparent, reducing the workload for the team and enabling more efficient day-to-day operations.
A Functional Digital Environment
The project successfully combines visual, content and functional improvements into a unified digital solution that supports the continued growth of the public institution. The result is a functional digital environment that provides an easy gateway to the colourful world of programmes, events and the parenting community. A place where everything is easy to find, processes run smoothly and – just like at Mala ulica – big stories begin.
